A tightly constructed 32-song set where the rivers meet, starting with an "early" 7:45p start time that reportedly sent a few fans scrambling to their seats. After the (here's a phrase you never thought you'd see) standard NYC Serenade opener, a nice quartet from The Rising followed to commemorate the occasion, with Into The Fire (U.S. tour debut) and You're Missing as highlights. Other than one D&D tour appearance (a request, in Buffalo), You're Missing hadn't been played since the final night of the Rising tour.
Only the second Darkness in the last two months came next, trailed by another 1973 8-pack. (Factoid: Before tonight, the last PGH audience to hear an ESB Incident was inside the Syria Mosque on the Chicken Scratch tour.) It took Joe Grushecky to bust out Light Of Day for this tour, then Streets Of Fire finally escaped its own recent written-setlist purgatory to make its U.S. tour debut and complete one of the night's best pairings.
The evening's other surprise opened the otherwise fairly standard encore. Long Walk Home hadn't been out since 2/12/14 Adelaide, and not at all in the states since St. Paul 11/11/12. The solo acoustic performance didn't have the benefit of Steve's contributions but delivered plenty well nonetheless.
