Lühüesti hotlan respasta: Elämäni toiseksi kamalin keikkailma (REM Stadi vei voiton), loistava aloitus itse levükeikan alle, loppu oli ehkä turhan arvattava, Rising oli eritüisen huono tuohon väliin, mutta ei se mitään. Lopun coverit kuulin matkalla kentö halki kohti uloskäüntiä ja Twistin osin jo porttien väärällä puolella. Olin jäässä, märkä ja ärttiväsünüt, sori. Stevarit eivät antaneet norkoilla portailla tai porttien sisäpuolella. Joku pitkä spiikki meni osapuilleen näin: in the rain, the snow, the sleet, the ice... The E Street band will deliver Ja se on totta. Noissa olosuhteissa loistokeikka. Vain kaksi hidasta, mikä oikein onkin kun jengi hütisee umpijäässä. Nüt lentokentälle iltapäiväkaljoille ja makkaralle konetta odottamaan.

Guten Morgen!

Hotellin nettipisteessä loistavan aamupalan jälkeen, tunnelma väsünüt mutta onnellinen!
Pidettiin peruskentän keskivaiheilla, siis siinä kahden aidan välissä, tunnelmaa niin korkealla, että kukaan ei uskonut meidän olevan Suomesta. Luulivat italialaisiksi!!!
Tarkempaa raporttia, jahka päästään kotomaisemiin.

Upeaa meininkiä! Näin levitetään positiivista Suomi kuvaa maailmalla. Ja suomalaisethan eivät kylmästä ja sateesta kangistu! Ilo lukea positiivisia keikkakuulumisia!

Saksasta kotiuduttu!
Olo on rähjäinen mutta onnellinen..
Keikka oli pirun hieno vaikka keli oli aika kolea ja kostea, tuli pompittua ja huudettua niin että melkeen ääni lähti (ei siellä muuten olisi tarjenukkaan)
Oli hieno kuulla koko Born In The U.S.A ja muutama harvinaisuuskin.. Encore oli nyt sitä samaa, mutta hauskaa oli ja tais tulla parista mun kaverista Bruce faneja, kovasti tykkäsivät keikasta, vaikka vettä satoi ja oli pirun kylmä välillä, mutta ei meitä sokerista ole tehty
Lauantaina vuokrattiin auto ja käytiin alpeilla ja natsileirillä, oli aika karu paikka.. Illat meni olut tupia kierrellen ja Bratwursta ja suolarinkeleitä mussutellen. Hotelli Lutipold oli loistavalla paikalla lähellä Karlplazaa, alakerrassa oli tavaratalo.. Kokonaisuudessa Hyvä reissu!

Jaa että Luitpold -- me oltiin Caffee Fellowsin toisella puolella Citü Meijerissä - nasta mesta tuokin.
Keltällä saatiin tosiaan meininkiä aikaiseksi kun ei voinut pomppimattakaan olla, muuten olisi jäätünüt saappaat kenttään.

Niin - ja terveisiä tuolta Päivänsäteeltä, en päästä sitä nüt koneelle riehumaan. Kähä ....

Joo oli kyllä kaikkien aikojen keikkasää! Toivottavasti ei osu toista kertaa kohdalle! Nyt alkaa tunto palata sormiin...
Kun Twist lähti soimaan niin oli pakko aloittaa evakuointi Bowmoren malliin...
Seaside Bar Song ja Rosalita kyllä lämmittivät sen minkä pystyivät! Samoin muutamat harvoin kuullut BITUSA biisit! Ja illan pelasti Glory Days joka oli keikkakaverin (First show Turku #1) suurin toive kuulla!
Ei voi kun nostaa hattua bändille-hieno oli keikka! Ihmeukkoja (ja daameja!)
Kohti kesäkelejä! (Nyt +18 ja aurinkoa-why oh why not yesterday...)
Niin ja Steve tuntuu taas olevan vedossa! Oli oikein hyväntuulinen kelistä huolimatta!

Pari pikaista kommenttia:
Keli todella karsea, bändikin oli aika lailla jäässä kirjaimellisesti.
Seaside ja Rosalita samasta toivekyltistä soitettu, kyltin tekijä/pitelijä Tom pääsi lavalle, oli joku reilu 10 v poika. Seaside oli mukava ylläri, samoin Rosie tuossa paikassa.
Bitusa - levykeikka : no joo... Tulihan tuolla tavalla tietty harvemmin soitetut I'm on fire ja My hometown mukaan settilistaan , mutta kuitenkin vie keikasta sen yllätyksellisyyden. Cover Me oli hyvä veto, Nilsin illan ainoa kunnon soolo.
Badlands oli keikan ainoa Darkness -biisi.

Settlistojen teko on kuitenkin aikamoista tasapainoilua normiyleisön ja
hc-fanien välillä. Näitä jälkimmäisiä on kuitenkin yhdellä keikalla maksimissaan joitakin tuhansia, eikä yksistään heitä voida tyydyttää settilistojen suhteen.

Harvoin oon ollut noin jäässä millään keikalla. Koskaan aikasemmin ei ole 25 vuoden aikana Brucen ulkokeikalla satanut, mutta nyt tuli sitten menneidenkin keikkojen edestä. Sori vaan Jyrki. Tämä tilasto meni nyt uusiksi, vaikka lauantaina lentokentällä muuta arvottiinkin. Onneksi lämpöä oli sentään ruthinaalliset 5 -astetta Siitä huolimatta kivaa oli. BITUSA oli kokonaisuudessaan antikliimaksi, mutta My Hometown kyllä toimi hyvin. Ja koska sää oli niin ---seestä, niin porukan oli pakko pomppia pysyäkseen lämpimänä.

Brucelle hatun noston paikka. Kylmästä säästä huolimatta kaveri pisti taas kaikkensa peliin vaikka hieman oli kylmän kankeutta esim. No Surrenderissa, jonka on vetänyt kyllä energisemminkin.

Even Bruce couldn't stop this rain

The famous Munich Olympic stadium, the home of the 1972 Olympic games, raises in front of us lining for the next roll call. Its proud tentlike roof structure doesn't actually cover any of its seat area or the floor, and just like the weather forecast has said, it is raining now and it will continue to do so until next morning. Besides, it is chilly and windy. The pit line is told to stay in line since 2 pm and we are not allowed to leave it any more except for some short toilet breaks. Well, we are lucky that we have at least some real toilets unlike in some German shows I've seen! We pass time in this very international crowd mainly by complaining about weather, standing and getting wet and trying to sit and getting even wetter.

Finally the gates open, and unlike in some other German shows, the security check is quite strict and I even have to give away my only water bottle as I didn't follow advices about how to hide it from one of my queueing companies, a very seasoned Bruce fan from Sweden. Luckily we were told that running is forbidden, as the stairs down to the floor are VERY deep! Now I'm in the pit, let's see, ok, there are short-looking people next to the front fence in front of Steve, I'll stay here and after few seconds some other Finns join me.

During the next two hours we were wondering if the show will happen at all, as the rain falls down on all the front part of the stage and all the instruments are either still somewhere backstage or covered with waterproof tarpaulins. But the stage crew is clearly working, microphones are brought to the stage and the light crew climbs up. We are wet and cold and wait for anything to happen to make us warm. Hey, this is a nice background tape tune, let's dance a little! Uh, did I see Kevin Buell? Let's clap to him as our fingers are getting numb.

We played the "let's guess the opening song" while waiting, but it was too easy this time. Bruce will naturally start with Who'll Stop the Rain as it is still raining and the rain has turned from annoying drizzle into proper pouring, and it will be solo acoustic as don't you hear now, that's Kevin tuning an acoustic guitar backstage.

Look at that one roadie coming quickly to the stage, telling other guys something and see how the others start to hurry to get all the rest of the plastic covers away? Just minutes now and yes, there's Bruce with an acoustic guitar and right, we had figured out the opening song correctly! All the audience joins the chorus as if something could stop this rain, it is Bruce doing just this song - but nope, it doesn't work this time.

After it Bruce steps out to the rain, says that it is really still raining and goes to get a request plate while the rest of the band enters. See how warm clothes they all wear! All the men except Bruce, Roy, Max and Curtis wear hats and we see coats, fingerless gloves and thick scarves around necks - well, except Bruce, who has his normal show attire aka just a vest and shirt with rolled sleeves. You are really trying to catch cold, Bruce?

The first request was Long Walk Home, how nice! And what's the next song? Oh, My Love Will Not Let You Down, how cool! Let's jump, shout and enjoy! It is followed by Out In The Street, another fun rocker. Just few songs into the show and nobody in the pit remembers how cold we had been just 15 minutes ago. Now we all were moving, dancing, jumping, shouting, singing, waving hands and clapping, and some people even started to shed extra clothing. Luckily most of us have proper rain gear, as the weather has been forecasted very accurately.

Now Bruce goes to pick up another request, a huge two-sided cardboard with images of Tillie and Stone Pony, a window in the middle of it and Rosalita on one side. Bruce fools with the cardboard, asks a kid (called Tim or Tom, I think) come to the stage and peek from the window and then places it against his mic stand and starts to prepare to play it - but hey Bruce, you put the wrong side towards the audience, no way you could play Seaside Bar Song tonight! Oh shit, he indeed does just that! This is so fun, who would have guessed this?

The fun wasn't going to end here, as after this Bruce just turned the cardboard around and launched a hilarious Rosalita with Bruce, Steve and Jake in the middle catwalk, Bruce singing, Jake blowing his sax and Steve making faces.Now back to more normal show routine with Wrecking Ball and Death To My Hometown.

Spirit In The Night follows. Spirit, yes we feel that tonight! Bruce and Jake standing in front of the stage, just where the water was falling from the top of the stage roof, audience singing all around. Thats the spirit!

After Spirit Bruce very shortly announced that they are are going to do all the BitUSA album next and immediately launched Born in the U.S.A. without any delay. A kind of a let down after this fantastic and surprising first part of the show, but already during Cover Me I was again fully in the show as these songs just work so well live. Listen to that Nils' solo during this song!

A hilarious Darlington County during which Bruce called Nils to him, but immediately aimed towards another end of the stage with poor Nils running and trying to catch him and finally grabbing Bruce's belt to make him stop! After Working on the Highway this is oh, lovely Downbound Train! I have really to work to keep my eyes open during this as I just want to concentrate on the song with closed eyes. But hey, you are witnessing a real live show right now, just keep them peepers open and listen to the record/boot later!

I'm On Fire, and that red spot light makes Bruce kind of on fire. No Surrender, and again the audience is singing along from the very first note. Dammit, this is good! Bobby Jean and look at all these hands waving! This is lovely. Germans have always been excellent singers, but little shy to move but as the front of the pit (and in many songs, also Bruce, Nils and the singers) show what to do, the German hands are moving more than normally tonight. Never mind that when you raise your hands, it is raining straight into your sleeves!

I'm Going Down, another good one, yes! And has Glory Days ever been this fun with Bruce and Steve in the middle catwalk and Bruce fooling that Steve has never before been in the rain? Dancing in the Dark makes the audience dance once again. After one solo dancer Bruce takes half a dozen gilrs to the stage to be his go go girls during the final moments of this song. They do their part quite nicely, share the mic with each others while shouting Hey baby! and oh, look at the joy shining from their faces!

Finally, Bruce holding a steaming cup of coffee (?) with both hands to keep them warm while singing My Hometown. Isn't that just our old friend on stage telling us a little story while having a cup of java instead of the greatest rock star in the world doing his stuff on stage far from his audience? Such a priceless moment.

Aftyer the full album Bruce just announces that that was that, no bows or speciel applauds but just onwards with the show. Waitin' On A Sunny Day features three cute kids who can sing quite well, and The Rising and Badlands make all the audience sing.

Encore starts with Pay Me My Money Down. No starting the clock or telling people on the seats to dance, but all the pit and probably a good part of GA is now really dancing and singing especially after Bruce leads all the horns and singers to he middle catwalk. Bruce makes the audience sing already the second line without his help, but this audience clearly knows this song and its lyrics and so that's not a problem. BtR follows.

Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out has probably now finally reached its new form, which was kind of being tested in Sweden and Finland eartlier on this tour. Start of the song, quite short band introductions with Steve as the last introduced member, no stop when the Clarence and Danny clips start running and this older tape is mixed with live feed of Bruce continuing the song in front of happy audience. But please Brucie, don't take this too literarly! Yes the song name is "freeze-out", but please don't take you vest and tie off like that and open your shirt! You will freeze in this weaher for sure. We can easily see that you are cold, as you are not sweating like normally and besides, we've noticed that you seem to have problems with your back due to coreography in Spirit and 10th. Please don't make them worse by getting cold!

Encore can't be this short, and so it was easy to guess that they will do at least one song after the bows - and yes, now we are getting Rockin' All Over the World! And I like it, I like it, I like it, here we go-oo! Still more dancing, this is fun! The show doesn't stop here, but we are treated with Twist and Shout before the final bows.

Look at Jake during this show! Look at that handsome man proudly walking around the stage, sometimes like stalking panther and doing his numerous solos so perfectly. This is not the shy kid we saw a year ago trying to fill the big boots his famous uncle left. Now we are looking at an adult man, who has earned his place in the E Street Band!

Oh, this all was great fun! Our group hugs each others and start walking towards the gates to look for more buddies and to find a place to get some beer while the rain is still falling down. I have just reached the top of the long stairs while Seaside Bar Song just suddenly starts inside my brain. Yes, this is an ear worm I'd love to keep for a while! Than you Bruce!

Jatketaan vielä vähän suomeksi:

Kiitos etkoiluseurasta, jonotusseurasta, keikkaseurasta ja jatkoiluseurasta kaikille asianosaisille! Meitä oli tuolla Münchenissä paljon, mutta (tietääkseni) yhtään kunnon miittiä ei saatu aikaan vaan me tapailimme toisiamme vain pienemmilla porukoilla. Lauantaina asiaa sotki se, että vika nimenhuuto oli jo klo 18 ja osa porukoista oli tuohon aikaan vielä lentokoneessa. Sunnuntaina sotkemassa olivat nimenhuutojen aikataulu ja se tolkuton sade, eli kenenkään ei tehnyt mieli harrastaa mitään ylimääräistä odottelua ja neuvottelua missään vaiheessa.

Aika moni taisi olla myös hotellinsa ainoa suomalainen Bruce-fani, eli edes sen perusporukan kasaan saaminen ei ollut helppoa.

Jatkot kuitenkin saatiin aikaiseksi neljän hengen voimin hotelli Four Points Sheratonin aulabaarissa, siis siinä hotellissa joka oli kai lähinnä keikkapaikkaa ja hyvin lähellä lähintä metron (U3 asemaa. Meitä oli kaljoittelemassa Bowmore, Emppu, Pete (eli hra Emppu) ja minä kun Lassi61 kumppaneineen häipyi keskustaan ja osa muista joko ei kommentoinut tätä tapaamista mitenkään tai ei edes tiennyt siitä kun ei nähty niitä sopivasti.

Paikalla oli liian vähän palvelevaa henkilökuntaa janoiseen asiakasmäärään nähden, mutta kaikki saivat lopulta tuopit eteensä vaikka ensin henkilökunta loppui, olut loppui, lasit loppuivat (ja kyyppärit keräsivät kiireesti likaisia laseja pöydistä) ja vaihtorahatkin loppuivat. Mutta ei se mitään, päästiin silti porukalla parantamaan maailmaa!

Puhuttiin syvällisesti ainakin Brucesta, E Street Bandin tulevaisuudesta, ihmissuhteista, juuri nähdystä keikasta, Brucesta, settilistasta, Seaside Bar Songista, Brucesta, THL-foorumista, kieliopista, appseista ja Brucesta. Oluen määrän lisääntyessä järkevän keskustelun määrä väheni, ja kun lopulta päädyttiin suurin piirtein siihen. että kenen E Street Bandin jäsenen kanssa menisit mieluiten samaan aikaan vessaan, todettiin että se on siinä ja painutaan petiin ennenkuin keneenkään sattuu pahemmin.

Ja vielä pakko tunnustaa että vaikka me erityisesti puhuttiin kengistä ja siitä, että keikkaa seuraavana päivänä niitä ei riisuta kovin kevein perustein, mä sitten kuitenkin mokasin lentokoneessa. Potkaisin ekan kengän pois ihan ajatuksissani ja vaikka saman tien huomasin erheeni, en enää jaksanut kaivaa sitä tuolin alta vaan otin toisenkin pois, Vieruskaveri vaihtoi saman tien paikkaa muutaman penkkirivin päähän.
